1/26/25 Rachel and Poppy Doing Sit Walkabout and Walk Away Stay

After a 10 minute workout, Rachel's first attempt at doing the week 8 walk away stay. She also did the sit walkabout. 

1/19/2025 Jeanne and Janet doing sit walkabout and walk away stay with Poppy

Took advantage of a clear driveway only minutes before the expected snowstorm began. Warmed up with a quick heeling practice and then each of us did the sit walkabout and walk away stay. One thing we noticed was Janet stepped off on her left foot on the walk away stay, but fortunately Poppy wasn't even looking at her leg....

Enough of the snow had been cleared and melted on the drive to make a safe path to walk away from Poppy. Rachel did a sit walkabout and about a 30 yard walk away stay. She also did a short recall.

1/5/25 Week 7 Exam Retakes

Poppy seemed much better in these retakes than we even expected. There were some distractions in the living room with Keith, the TV on, and the other dogs. She did want to break her sit/stays but did good on the down/stays. Auto sits were good, but sometimes either ahead or behind. She had much better eye contact checking in. When Jeanne had her stay off leash, then walked off on left leg (oops), Poppy did too. So she can read our legs!! Haha. After several practice sessions this morning and then Jeanne/Janet's tests, Rachel went last with Poppy and you can tell she was tired, but she tried. 

1/2/25 Rachel and Poppy Practicing With Heeling Rig

Rachel was out of town between Christmas and New Year's and this is her first practice with the heeling rig again since coming home. Poppy did much better as far as checking in, but she still had lala moments. Poppy is doing much better walking to the wall. Rachel did some work with the rigging and also some without to see what difference there still may be. Poppy responded much better with Rachel than with Janet and Jeanne.

J and J practiced, but not as many times as we should have during the holidays. We both tried using the leash as rigging and also adding the string as rigging. Poppy was mostly lala with us, but she did check in often at the auto sit. She also did good walking to the wall with us. She seemed to get overwhelmed quickly with the string rigging to the point we were almost dragging her. It was easier with just the leash rigging. Sorry, no videos.
