12-1-2024 Week 6 EXAM(s). Students Rachel, Jeanne & Janet

We didn't get as much practice because of Thanksgiving holiday prep and aftermath. But we did video the first session of TCs with Rachel and Poppy. Here are the videos of the first TC throws on Wednesday 11/27 and how quick she understood and came without the TCs.

We each tested Poppy against food, cat, and the pack on 12/1.

Practice was great, Poppy did 'figure this IS a set up' rapidly, didn't she?

EXAMS were ALL passes, I loved the distraction of food, the cat and Hank playing.

My only feedback? Don't bow when you Recall. Instead, where there is space to do so, stand up tall and straight and rapidly backup while pulling on the leash sharply. This trains a dog to spin and rush back to the handler. We want this mental imprint of a rapid Recall as distance erodes control. So if a dog is la-la-la on a 6' Recall, as the Recall distances increases, the dog comes in slower and slower..or not at all. Build muscle memory by training a RAPID & IMMEDIATE Recall at 6' so as the distance increases, the dog's mental belief and muscle memory IS a PROMPT & BRISK Recall.

    Onward to Week 7!
