HOMEWORK Week 5: Using poles to weave as you strengthen heeling position

Go find stationary poles or etc., in the ground. As long as the footing is staple for you and your dog, and the space between the stationary poles is 4' to 8', then use these poles to do serpentine weaving or Figure 8's or make a triangle pattern. Also, notice how I am using my legs, slight leash handling and my upper body to help move the dog.

Be creative, look around and you will find things to use this week.

These pictures and video were taken outside the Howard County Dog Park, just off 108 and close to Cedar Lane Park. Works beautifully. Please notice I am working Sugar briskly, even while heeling-:)

If you can't locate stationary poles in the ground, here's a great option instead.

Not sure which week had this exercise to do but we have practiced it off and on since then. Today was the first day I saw improvement on her heeling and was so excited I had to get it on my blog. I rarely used the snub when turning left and she stayed with me.
