9/29/24 ILL Day 6

We added three pretty high distractions to Poppy's ILL practice: Three ring toy, food puzzle with some kibble in it, and Hank.

Poppy's first pass she saw the rings, went straight to the food puzzle and was corrected, turned toward Hank, and then went for the rings coming back and was corrected.

It took only the first pass and corrections to make a difference. On Poppy's second pass, she moved toward Janet to avoid the puzzle, ignored Hank, and avoided the distractions walking back. 

Poppy kept progressing pawsitively. She moved closer to Janet in obvious avoidance of the distractions, and she even stayed on the left at the far turn.

DONE!

9/27/24 LL Day 4

 

 Trying to sneak in a quick roll lol. 

Poppy still goes to the right side sometimes but much less!

Pretty good!

Sweater came off - getting a good workout! Riley on the right as a distraction. 

Riley is the most obedient distraction! And Poppy did pretty good too

9/26/24 LL Day 3

Rachel's very first time working with Poppy!

We had lot's of distractions - birds, squirrels, my mom and aunt!

Our progression! She even self corrected back to the left side :)

We are toast! A good workout. Back to work for Rachel and quiet time for Poppy

9/25/24 ILL Day 2 Practice

Practice 1 at Rachel's house. Rainy day. Poppy often moves to the right side. Janet's timing was off for corrections. Different dog and handler, different day. Ended on a good note.

Practice 2 on Jeanne's driveway. Still raining. Poppy showed improvement, although she still moved to the right. Something seemed to click with her this afternoon. She sometimes waited for me to do a 270 around her, she began adjusting her pace to mine and stopping with me when I stopped, she even moved forward from a stop before the line tugged her.

LL Day 1

Poppy's very first LL with Jeanne. Tried to pick an area that had boundaries at Rachel's yard like the gravel road where Janet would work her later at my house. Poppy was all over the place at first, but eventually tracked more in the 5 foot bubble.

Moved to a different area at Rachel's that gave a little more space. Poppy began to track better in the bubble.

Later in the day Janet did a practice at the gravel road by the pond. It's a new place for Poppy to see, so she was apprehensive on the first attempt. 

Poppy was better on the last run.

 How did the ILL go today with Poppy? Rachel how did taking away her food when she doesn't eat work?

HOMEWORK Week 1: Need extra help with LL? Call Sugar

Why is Sugar Longe Line working the new dog, a young Samoyed, named Sitka? What is Sitka doing? Why following along quite nicely.

Mike is using his left foot to show Sugar which way to go - regardless of the LL Sugar is holding

What's on the end of the Longe Line?  Why look, there's a dog there, a young Samoyed named Sitka.  Of course, Sherpa is wondering if Sugar needs her help also?

Nah, Sugar doesn't need any help at all.

And look, Sitka is 'mirroring' Sugar's body language.  Dog do learn by watching other dogs.
