Week 4 Test - 11/3/25

Today is my birthday! We got started a little late after birthday festivities (and with daylight savings it's now dark very early), but Poppy gifted me a pretty good test. For distractions we had geese squawking/flying away, leaves blowing/rustling, all of us and Riley walking around while others did the test, Hannah making noise in the apartment, neighbors doing work in their field, etc.

6' Recall

Aunt Jannie attempted her tests today as well, but after doing mine and my mom's back to back beforehand, Poppy was tired. She is going to try again tomorrow morning.

Yesterday we had "strangers" over (our friends, strangers to Poppy) for lunch, which was  a perfect opportunity to do this part of our test!

  1. Week 4 test! Poppy was tired after doing my test and my mom's test, so Aunt Jannie will do hers tomorrow morning.

  2. That sounds great. Rachel, Happy Birthday!!

    Pass and well done.

    Pointers:

    1) For now, always do the "Heel" with the short, FAST step which will help Poppy to take more responsibility for paying attention, immediately, to footwork. You may also want to do that with the EF.

    2) Have you tried heeling her with your left hand on your stomach?

    3) Good for you insisting her final Halt be in the correct Heel position which is her right shoulder beside your left pant seam.

    4) Relax the 6' Sit/Stay leash position to simply be in your hand close to Walking Position. I think she will maintain her Stay without anyone holding the leash up high anymore.

    5) On the Stand Circles, remember to ALWAYS pass with your RIGHT foot.

    6) The Down was excellent, and the heeling position is greatly improved.

    Bravo on passing Week 4!!

  3. Thank you for the pointers! I did try healing with left hand on stomach and I totally forgot to do that for this test. Will try to remember for future!
